The above promise made by Allah is obviously fulfilled in the undisputed purity of the Qur’anic text throughout the fourteen centuries since its revelation. However, what is often forgotten by many Muslims is that the above divine promise also includes, by necessity, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), as is embodied in his Hadith. This symbiotic link is also exemplified by the fact that neither the Qur’an nor the Sunnah can be understood correctly without recourse to the other.
Also, many people are not aware of the phenomenal efforts exerted by the Prophet’s Companions and those who came after them to preserve his sayings and actions. It is with this backdrop that MIU presents an introductory course encompassing the various topics that come under the auspices of the Sciences of Hadith. This course is designed to open the door into this fascinating world, treading the footsteps of its architects, the likes of Imaam Awza’i, Sufyaan Ath-Thawri, Imaam Bukhari, Imam Ahmad, Imam Malik and others. This course is aimed at the student who is at the beginning of his learning journey, giving the student an apreciation of this vast and amazing science.
